Headlines for the day 27-May-08

Corporate News Headline
Reliance Power and GMR Infrastructure are planning to bid for PowerSeraya and Senoko Power, which account for more than 60% of the power produced in Singapore. (BS)
BHEL won a contract worth Rs. 11.5 bn for setting up energy efficient and environment-friendly captive power plant with 153 MW capacities at Bhatinda in Punjab. (BS)
TCS bagged a USD100 mn five-year contract with NXP Semiconductors. (ET)

Economic and Political Headline
The RBI governor Y V Reddy expressed that India´s fiscal deficit continues to be among the highest in the world and underlying pressures are not entirely reflected in headline fiscal numbers. (BS)
Despite a significant slowdown in capital inflows and the rupee weakening 8% since January, the government is unlikely to relax restrictions on domestic companies borrowing overseas in the near term. (BS)
