TATA Teleservices (TTSL)

TATA Teleservices (TTSL) will use its existing CDMA infrastructure and retail network for speedy rollout of GSM services across the country. TTSL has received start-up GSM spectrum in Tamil Nadu (including Chennai), Orissa and Kerala and is expected to receive GSM spectrum in the remaining circles later this year. The capex required for GSM launch will not be very high as the company will use its current active and passive infrastructure. TTSL, along with subsidiary Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), has 13,500 towers across the country. GSM antennae can be mounted on these CDMA towers, which are already being shared with other operators. Public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) is also in talks with TTSL for sharing infrastructure.
