Corporate News Headline
•Tech Mahindra would pay Rs. 17.56 bn before the deadline of April 21 for acquiring 31 % stake in Satyam Computer for which it got the approval from the Company Law Board. (BS)
•Unitech has moved to raise USD 325 mn through qualified institutional placement route mainly to service its debt of over Rs. 80 bn. (BS)
•Suzlon Energy is seeking to reschedule payments to Portugal's Martifer SGPS SA for buying a 22.4% stake in German unit REpower Systems AG. (Bloomberg)

Economic and Political Headline
•Inflation eased to 0.18%, the lowest ever in the last three decades, even as prices of food articles like pulses, cereals and vegetable hardened during the week ended April 4. (BS)
•Industrial production in Europe contracted 18.4% in February from the year- earlier month as the deepening global recession curtailed demand for manufactured goods around the world. (Bloomberg)
•China's economy, battered by collapsing exports, grew at 6.1% in the first quarter from a year earlier, the slowest pace in almost 10 years. (Bloomberg)
