how to do a file transfer between computers with a crossover cable?

Question by Joe G: how to do a file transfer between computers with a crossover cable? ok, i found out that i need a crossover cable to connect from computer to computer. i have identified one of my cables as a crossover cable. my problem is i don't know how to get my computers to recognize that they are connected. my desktop is running windows xp and my laptop is running vista. please some help? use windows easy transfer which is already on vista, so here is the download for xp http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2B6F1631-973A-45C7-A4EC-4928FA173266&displaylang=en connect the pcs together with the crossover usb cable and start the app on both computers look up how to use it on google t
