Corporate News Headline
•Tata Steel increased prices of long products sold in the spot market by up to 3% or Rs. 1,000/tonne this month on the back of rise in demand for metal from the construction sector. (ET)
•Suzlon Energy bagged a contract to set up a 52 MW wind power plant near Jakhao in Kutch from Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation. (BS)
•BHEL announced an investment of Rs. 120 bn over the next four years to pick up equity in power projects and to ramp up its capacity to support the generation of about 20,000 MW. (BS)

Economic and Political Headline

•The government is planning to transfer Rs. 280 bn from market stabilisation scheme to the normal cash account of the government, so that it need not go for additional borrowings. (BS)
•IMF said that the Indian economy, facing slowdown amid global financial slowdown, is expected to rebound near the end of the current calendar year. (ET)
•The US service industries rose to 43.7 in April from 40.8 in the prior month as home purchases and retail sales rose, another signal that the economic slump is abating. (Bloomberg)
